The GTS Experience

I recently entered in to Lilla Rogers GTS competition.  While I didn't get picked in the top 50 it was a great challenging experience for me.  The design brief totally took me out of my comfort zone.  But I managed to come up with something Unique and I am very proud of my piece.

I did a lot of research on the subject "Little Terrarium" and I had a lot of ideas that I wanted to portray, and I did become a bit overwhelmed for a moment.  One thing I wish I would have done was spend a little more time drawing different elements, I believe after a while I got stuck on one good idea and just went with that.  I am glad that I was able to get finished and submit a piece that I was happy with.

There were about 1000 entries and you can see the full gallery here, and the top 50 that were chosen for round 2 can be seen here.  I was delighted to see so many wonderful entries and I was able to take away some great tips that I can use for next year competition, now that I know what to expect and what type of things the judges are looking for.

Below I have attached a few pages from my sketch book that were used in the design.

I know have another great piece I can add to my portfolio! If you really like this design there are prints up for sale in my Society 6 Shop, and be sure to have a look at my other products there as well.
