Designer Diaries: Water For March Studio

"I'm Stephania Silveira - founder and designer at Waters of March Studio.

After studying Digital Textiles at Central Saint Martins in London, I moved to California and started Waters of March Studio.

Textile design is not a job, it’s my passion.

Being Brazilian, I have a natural affinity and love for bright and expressive colour combinations, and my prints also incorporated a more contemporary style of painting and illustration influenced by my 8 years living in London.

With a mix of the tropical and the quirky in mind, I decided to name my studio after a popular Brazilian song called ‘Waters of March’. The song, written in a typically Brazilian bossa nova style, describes Rio de Janeiro during the rainiest month of the year - March. Its message - that it’s possible to create beautiful things about even the grimiest of subjects - really inspires me. I draw my influences from everyday life, not just trend reports.

Waters of March studio provides beautifully crafted prints for fashion and decor brands who are looking for a more expressive and experimental style. Every print is an unique combination of hand-drawing, watercolor painting or mix media graphics, always focusing on bright colors and modern themes."
